Athletics

Last Friday the whole school went outside for athletics. The whole school was excited that they got to do  athletics and they got to play with there friends. It was so sunny I like the sun because you can play outside. It was so full that I didn't even see Mrs King.

My team went to high jump. I ran so fast and I jumped and I made it. Then everyone had a turn at jumping. Then it was just three people Ozzy Me and Mel. Ozzy came first I came second then Mel came third.  I felt good  when I jumped over the pole.

Then all of us went to sprinting. It was amazing I liked it when the wind was blowing in my face and  I kept on coming third. Then when it was the final race, I lost. I came last because I was so tired.

Then it was morning tea so I ran to get something to eat.  When it was finished I felt so tired I went home i had a long sleep.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Yesterday my class went to the Manaiakalani film festival. We watched lots of movies.My favorite was Fast and Furious 8  because  it was a amazing. Especially I liked the acting. I love the bit when they were fighting  in prison and the girls were fighting too. If you want to watch it click here.

BOB

I like BOB because he is so funny and he is my favourite when he plays a song lots of minions come to join in with BOB.

Recorder

Today we learnt how to play some notes on the recorder. It was very very hard to play and it was so yuck because Miss King had cleaned it so we washed it so it can taste good and not yuck. So i tried to play it but it was so hard. I was trying my best and my friend tried his best too. The song we were playing was you are my Sunshine and we sounded terrible. Now we have to practice lots more so that we can get better.

Little Gardens

Yesterday i was learning music then Gigi had a surprise we were excited and we had to guess what was in the box. It was a little garden. We got to choose a little garden. I chose the Orange. Then Miss King gave us a tray and and we had to tip 50ml water in the tray and my eyes felt like it grow up so fast. We had to mush up the soil and and we grabbed my seed and put it in my soil. I put the rest of the mud in my little garden then I put my little garden in the tray and I waited patiently for the plant to grow .

Space Art

This week room 13 made cool pictures about space.We drew and painted rockets and planets. We had to be careful,take time and work hard. We learnt it was ok to make mistakes. To finish off we added some glitter.We feel amazing about our pictures.  

Trip to the Bush

Bush Walk

Today we went on a adventure. And we were running to the bush. Then we found sticks. Me and Caleb we worked together. We nearly nearly made a hut but Caleb ditched me and I had to work alone. I grabbed a big stick. I found a tree and I climb it and it broke and I was hanging on the tree branch. Then I hopped off and made my hut. Then it was time to go back to class and I loved Miss King because she is my favourite teacher in the world.

                                                                                Ti was a hot  and sunny and we were waiting for aur cross country race.I was feeling nervous while i sat on the concrete. We lined up and were ready to race as quickly as i could i ran through the muddy grass chasing my friend. Out of breath my sore legs and my heart was beating so fast but i never gave up. I was filled with energy i started to sprint to the finish line. After the race

Star Dome

Last Wednesday me and my class went for an adventure to the Star dome on a bus. When  we got out we went inside of the Star dome and we did activities. When we were done we went outside and I played on the spinning wheels and the zip line. I had so much fun. Then we went on the bus and we had to go back to school. When I got back from the Star dome it was lunchtime and when lunchtime was done we had to get back to class we got a treat and we went home happy and kind and calm and we live safe and safe and sound.

The Moon

The Moon was probably made 4.5 billion years ago when a large object hit the Earth and blasted out rocks that came together to orbit round the Earth. The Moon is much smaller than the Earth. It is airless, waterless and lifeless. The gravity of the Moon, causes two high tides on the Earth every day.

The first person to walk on the Moon was the American astronaut, Neil Armstrong. He stepped out of his space craft, the Eagle, on 21 July 1969 and said these famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”.

My spaceship is strong and it has rocket boosters. The engines smoke and explode.

We counted down 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 we launched to the sun.

The Sun

The sun is the largest star in our solar system, however there are many stars like it in the wider universe. The earth is just the right distance from the sun that our planet is not too hot or too cold. The light from the sun takes 8 minutes to reach earth and gives life to plants.  Astronauts will never be able to land on the sun as it reaches 5500 degrees celsius - 100x hotter than humans can stand. The sheer size of the sun means that its gravitational pull forces all the planets in our solar system to orbit around it. Born 5 billion years ago, the sun has been producing heat and light for a very long time.

Superheros

A large muscular green man found six superhero friends. Captain America is holding a shiny and stripy shield his powerful weapon is ready for defence. The super friends are going to protect the world.

Room13 went to the bike track to make a ramp. We had to work together and we had lots of ideas. We waited nicely while Miss King came with two hammers and nails. We had to hammer the nails into the  wood so the wood doesn’t come off.

Then we got on a bike. We tested the ramp we popped a wheelie and drifted. Lee said that this is amazing this was so fun.We hope we can do this again some times.

Celebrating Matariki

Pt England School celebrated Matariki by having a special day. The whole school celebrated with an assembly in the morning and then fun activities for the rest of the day.All the kids were split into groups for the activities. We got to work with a different teacher and other kids all day long. Some of the activities were crafts, sports, music and movies.

The activity I got to do was the art I got to do art and we were working with miss moala and miss tumaha i done the sky blue we had the most fun celebrating matariki.

Lego Pirate Writing

One day some pirates were guarding their treasure on an island. Suddenly, a soldier came in his blue boat.He was so angry because the pirates had stolen his treasure.He wanted it back.As he rowed toward the island he saw a green crocodile how was he going to get past the crocodile to get to the treasure?! The pirates were ready to battle.One of the pirates was holding a telescope and a sword.

Tamarereti Animation

We have been learning the story of Tamarereti. Here is my animation I made with Hyperstudio.

Beside Lake Taupo was a village. In the lake there lived a scary Taniwha who would eat people when it was dark. There were no stars in the sky at night - which made night time very dangerous.

One day Tamarereti went fishing in his waka and he was blown by the wind to the other side of the lake.

After a long sleep, the sky was dark. Tamarereti was afraid of the Taniwha - but he had an idea.

On the beach lay many shiny pebbles. He gathered the pebbles. Tamarereti threw the pebbles into the night sky where they became stars.

Now the sky was too bright for the Taniwha and he stayed hidden.

Tamarereti made it safely home again.

Lego Picture Prompt Story

Once upon a time there lived a group of evil pirates one day pirates came to a village and they attacked the village then one of the pirates handcuffed a woman then they stole all of the gold and emerald and diamond and took over the world the End.

Puddle

It had been raining for 2 days. There  was a puddle it was outside the classroom

Ms King said “Who wants to go into the puddle?”  everyone shouted “Yes” Then I got changed and I ran down into the puddle. I slid into the puddle. Then me and Brendon slid  then Brendon pretended  to be a girl.

Miss King counted down to let us know to  go Inside. Then all of us ran back to class where we dried ourselves

I felt so good even though the grass hurt.

Forces on a Kite

Gravity is the force that pulls everything down to the earth. Gravitational force pulls everything to the centre of the earth. The bigger the mass, the larger the gravitational force. Without gravity we would all float off into space.

Drag is the force that slows the movement of an object through air or water. As a moving object pushes the water and air out of the way, the water or air pushes back on the object. This drag force is always opposite to the way the object is moving. The drag force increases as the object moves faster.

Thrust is the force that moves an object. When flying a kite, the thrust comes from wind. The thrust must be stronger than the drag to make the object move.

In a plane, thrust comes from your legs.

Lift is the upwards force on the kite. Lift is created by air flowing around the kite. The different speeds of the air flowing around the kite make it lift into the air.

Long ago the sky was dark and had no stars.

Deep in Lake Taupo lived a scary taniwha who ate people when it was dark. One day Tamarereti woke up he felt really hungry. Tamarereti went out fishing and caught lots of fish. He fell asleep and his waka drifted to the other side of Lake Taupo.

Tamarereti was hungry so he cooked his fish. It was dark and he was scared of the taniwha, but he had an idea. On the beach lay many shiny pebbles.

Tamarereti gathered as many pebbles as he could hold and set off in his waka.  As he sailed back to his village, Tamarereti threw the shiny pebbles into the sky where they settled to become the stars of Matariki.

Beach Trip

My class and I changed into our mufti clothes because we were going to the beach. The weather was so rainy.

Then me and Teejay we found clay and we played clay wars. Smack I got Lee. Then Caleb threw clay and it got me. I started to find some crabs. Lee found a little spider crab and I put the crab in the bucket, so we could make sure the crabs did not get out.

It was time to go we were rolling on the grassy bank to get the clay off us. Then we all went back to school.

On the first day of term we made kites. Miss King gave us no instructions and we could only choose three materials. All of us had problems creating our kites. Some of us gave up and some of us made something. No ones kite flew. We have lots to learn before we can make a kite that will fly.

Through the water  we were swimming. Diving into the water we made a big splash. The best part was diving, it was so much fun.

Rain

All night  long the rain slammed. into the window. Pouring down out side   the rain  soaked the washing. Quickly the little stream  turn in to a river. Across Auckland people cleaned up there Houses.

Camp

Looking out the window  I see rows of tent on the field. The year 5 and 6 are camping in the rain,they are having so much fun. Even though it is raining i would rather be at camp than in my classroom with my grumpy teacher.

Duffy Show

I went to the hall with my class to see the Duffy show. The Duffy show was all about working together.  My favourite bit was when Duffy did a dab.

Omaru Creek

This morning I went for a walk with my class to see the Omaru creek. We saw  grass on the ground and in the  water. I liked visiting Omaru creek because it was smelly.

The Bird

Dear Bird,

How did you die? We bless you with all of our heart.

We were walking in the morning on our way to the park when we found you. So Jermaine asked Mr Shaw for a shovel to take care of you. We wanted to take care of you because you are God’s creature.

Lee took the shovel and scooped you up gently. We carried you to the farm and we stopped under a tree.

Anthony started digging the hole, then everybody had a turn. Finally we put you in the hole and Lee said a prayer for you.

We all walked nicely back to our class.

We love you and we hope that you rest in peace and live with God.
